Can all 16 memory slots in Z8 G5 be used with only one processor?

No. The dual-processor platform has 16 memory slots, but only eight are available in a single-processor configuration. Check processor count and the slots assigned to each CPU before upgrading; a physically empty slot is not necessarily usable in the current configuration.

Can existing 16GB or 32GB DIMMs be retained when adding 64GB DIMMs to Z8 G5?

This QuickSpecs revision prohibits mixing 64GB RDIMMs with other capacities. Reaching the 1TB platform maximum also requires the appropriate dual-CPU and memory population; do not treat the family maximum as the default upgrade limit of a single-CPU system.
